Now we're in Rome. I was like 'wow' the first time I saw this- and it's even more amazing to hear that it is about 2000 years old.

WOW....looking through these 2 sets has got me all sentimental reminiscing about my time in Europe. I spent 9 months there over 04/05 and went to many of the places in your photos. Oh I miss it so much, there is a time for everything in life I suppose and that was my time to ditch all the obligations and burdens of the 'real' world and travel. One of the things that i most recall is that whilst in Europe I soon found myself walking ever so slowly....unlike here at home where it all seems like a mad rush to nowhere at times....the damned rat race eh :)

My only regret ? .....back then i had a cheapo canon P&S which I hardly used. Would have been great to have had a my GF1 and lenses back then.

But isn't always the case ? .....you get home and wished you took more photos !

Seems you didn't make my mistake

    Thanks for sharing.

Leaning Tower shot is one of the best I've seen, cliched or not.

Bravo on the whole set, and thanks for sharing! Haven't been to Europe in 5 years, so it's nice to see it again :)

Great portfolio from what looks like a memorable trip and a great testimony to the saying that the best camera is the one you have with you.

... also known locally as "The Typewriter" or "The Wedding Cake"... only dates from late 1800's, after Italy was unified as a country. The building before was the Pantheon.

Glad to see you enjoyed Europe. Looks like you really got all over the place.

Cheers for the name. I've had information overload and some names have left me.

Thanks again Livnius, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. You sound like a nice bloke.
Before the trip i toyed with the idea of taking some video. I took some extra memory and I ended up taking small bits of video here and there. Back at home I showed my family some of the video and I'm really pleased that i did. It gives an extra dimension that a photo doesn't give, more atmosphere I think.

I've got some fun ahead with editing the clips and making a little 'movie'

Thanks Warren. Seeing the others all try to push over the tower with their hands made me try to think of something a little different. It was hilarious to watch the other tourists taking photos as the guy with the camera would be ordering other person to move back and to the left a bit ect, when all the while if the camera guy moved he could get it right by adjusting himself in relation with the tower and the person in the picture.

merci, or in the case of the staircase being in Italy 'Grazie'

i agree with you fully. If i gave the battery a charge every night she never let me down.

haha Raf, sounds like you might have a couch i can use when i come over.

I sure packed a lot into the time i had. The 'wedding cake' is pretty much what it looks like. From the way it looks it appears to be way older than what it really is.

    Ta mate

yeah he didn't sing but he made strange noises in italian to the other row boys. Things got pretty lively when we had a gondola traffic jam in one of the canals. I didn't understand what they were saying but i'm pretty sure they were expletives of some kind.

I'm glad you enjoyed the escalator picture. I wasn't sure whether it cut the pack but something about it made me keep coming back to it.

Thanks everyone, you guys make me love this place. And you inspire me to keep taking photos...

I agree this is one of the best Leaning tower shots I've seen.

Thanks again for showing us your journey, and reminding me of mine from 6 years ago. I need to get back to Europe..
