This one however is more modern.

Not sure about the curvature, didn't notice. Maybe it's just a light difraction.

The spikes works as a "spacer" between the blades and skin, so the cutting length can be set (by motor, in this case between 0,4 and 12mm, if you believe the setting increments...).
Here display shows length set to 4,2mm, 26min of battery operation left:
