Hey Icon,
did the "Beemer" really get you all the way from Cecil Plains to Brisbane?
Cool, Man!!!!!!!!
Great to hear that and also your meeting with "Lucky". What a great episode from a simple camera forum. I'm proud of you both. Just great Aussies. Take note all you m43 buffs from the rest of the world. Australia - a great place down under!
Cheers

Hey Dud mate. I'm really proud of my Beemer, she's working really good at the moment. Patched up a few leaks and polished the duco and she's as good as new. Great to hear from you again. I'm off to america in a month, looking forward to that as you can imagine. Guess what? I'm even gonna catch up with the legendary guy they call Gary Ayala!

Haha you Aussies are a bunch of characters you are.

Good to see you guys meeting up and having fun, and even managing to get some photography done! I do enjoy getting together for group outings, it's really fun. Like Brady said, you get to exchange some fresh ideas with each other. Although there are definitely times you want to go solo, with out distractions for that pure focus.

Two great sets from you guys and even more important, it looks like you had fun! Interacting on forums is a fantastic modern phenomenon made possible by technology, but it doesn't beat meeting up in person. On another forum, where I spend too much time, we have regular meets in different parts of the UK. I'm particularly fortunate to have quite a few fellow members close to where I live - it's great to see the approach others have to photography, exchange ideas and borrow each other's gear.

I'd thoroughly recommend members of this forum forming local groups to meet up whever possible.

Sounds great, Brady. AMERICA, where everything is larger than life! I reckon you'll be at home. Have a great time and take heaps of pics. We're off to Spain in mid October for three weeks. I'm looking forward to that.
Cheers

Great thread - looks like the two of you had a great time. I loved the street shots - something I really have trouble with. I feel awkward pointing a camera at strangers. I did get shots of folks at a festival I attended, mostly shooting with the 100-300 and firing with the touch screen on the E-P3. Not quite the same though. You both got some great shots.

Missed this thread first time around.

Great shots guys. Love the candid of Bhupinder.

Icon -- you are caught! Never shoot with the PL25, unless you've got US$500-600 free layin' about to spend!

Thanks everyone for looking and commenting on this thread. It was a great experience to meet up with Brady and be able to trade stories face to face rather than just on the forum. It's also good for sharing tips and techniques that are difficult to convey properly through written word. Highly recommended for anyone else to do something similar if you would like to meet up with some other Micro 4/3 users in your area. Don't be afraid to post a thread on the forum asking if there are any takers. In this case it was also good to try out some gear that neither of us had used before.

We weren't joined at the hip while we were shooting (Brady was flitting around far too quickly through the Mall for me to keep up!) so there's no need to be photographing exactly the same things. It has actually been interesting to have another photographer in the same vicinity, with a different lens and see the different results. It is also very interesting to watch another photographer work, something that I have not had much opportunity to do previously.

These are some of the other images taken on the day, some of which may have already been seen in some other image threads:

The cathedral that Brady mentioned in the first post (St John's on Ann St)

I'm sure that Brady must have a whole bunch more images as well.

Nic made sure he had it back in his bag before I left. haha
I need to convert that 600 dollars into something useful in the very near future.

Oh dear, maybe that's why I often get lost.

The light from the stained glass windows is really beautiful - nice capture!
