Seeing, other mu43er's travel photos, is giving me the urge to travel overseas again... it's probably won't happen for a little while yet due to new commitments, but I can still dream whistfully.

I find I feel more inspired to take photos when I'm travelling to somewhere new. I like places with nice scenery, culturally different and has nice food.

Any suggestions? Where would YOU go if you could have a holiday, and why?

Of course I have to say Munich and the Bavarian/Austrian Alps... On my travel and photography list is Iceland, though.

In order to give you a better recommendation: What kind of photography are you after? Landscape, architecture, street ... ?

Quebec City! No need to go overseas right away. If you have little time and little cash, Quebec City (especially inside "The Wall" is amazing.) Stay in a 300 year old hotel and enjoy the step back in time.

I go to Saratoga Springs NY. Cuz it's awesome in summer. World class horse racing, crazy fun events for everyone, Lake George and the Adirondacks to the North, Berkshires to the South. Great summer weather, and a wonderful community all year round even when racing isn't in town. Love the whole Hudson River valley really.

Has to be Nice, Cote D'Azur, France. Why? You have such a variety of natural and built environments; the most beautiful coastline overlooking the Med, the Alps, the countryside of Provence and gorgeous cities (Monaco) and villages (Eze). One of the best railway journeys in the world along that coast, through the mountains. Beautiful people, wonderful food, excellent light, artistic history (loads of great artists chose to live in the area for obvious reasons).

Only problem is you need loads of money. Nothing is cheap.

...followed by downtown Niagara Falls, NY, and then Downtown Waycross, GA... ;-)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Greece was interesting. In 2004, just before the Olympics, I did Athens, Mykonos, Crete (Heraklion), and the airlines were on strike nearly every day. I got stuck in airports for hours the entire time I was there because I chose to use small planes to get to and from islands. Then there were the racist scandinavian teenagers working in the restaurants... Really bizarre!
