Every winter since I hate the cold, I take less photos since I'm stuck inside. Lately I also have a lack of motivation even when I get out. I still really enjoy looking at people work on here and on other sites, but I just not feeling the vibe myself. Help!!!

Been there myself. It's just a hobby. It will likely come back. It did for me. Don't worry about it.

The solution that works for me is to go back to the reason why you started pursuing photography as a hobby and finding the right people to share it with. Join new groups on meetup and go meet new people or explore a new locality/city. It's a phase that'll eventually pass, hang in there .

Take a short trip to a new place. This will bring back the fun of shooting.

Yeah, same here. That's when I start churning gear! Nothing to shoot, so I start double-thinking my gear. Sorry, no solutions. Just feeling your pain.

We're going to the Caymans in April. Travel always helps.

    Yupp. That's Canadian winter.

I've been pacing indoors all week and I feel antsy.

Read this Photo book. It will challenge your photo skills.
It really helped me shooting indoor objects using flash.

But...the same old landscapes take on a different look in the winter, which is worth shooting. And I think the further North you go in the winter, the more interesting the quality of the (admittedly brief) sunlight.

Thats a great idea, I might do that, or take a course for fun.

I am planing on taking a trip back home to Vancouver next month

I have been resisting the same urges to buy and sell stuff.

Can you guys suggest some sites/blogs for me to check out?

Which photo book, no link? I'm interested in learning more about indoor flash.

Because I am new to photography, I don't have any issues taking pictures. How long have you been a photographer?

This. I find winter to be a good time to go though older images and see what I can do with them, but admittedly I seem to acquire or reshuffle all my gear in the winter as well. In fact, I just sold a lens and purchased a body.

I'm in the same boat, Midwest USA winters can be beautiful but there are many dull grey days too. I carry my camera with me most days but often come home with nothing. I think it's a combination of bad light and being in the same place day after day. At least when the weather is nicer there are more things/situations outside to shoot on the walk home.

I think the best strategy is to change up your routine somehow - go to a different location than normal, find something indoor that might be fun to shoot, etc.

    Sorry to hear that.

How about (don't know what camera you have) using one of those art modes? The pictures I have taken with some of them sure looked different and fun to me.
