Just what does it do and to what effect? Can't seem to find an explanation for it.
It enhances edge sharpness by increasing contrast in the mid tones. Similar to Clarity in Lightroom.

If you're a JPEG shooter it can be very handy as it can give a little more pop. I shoot Raw but I still like to play around with all this stuff as I paid for it
JPEG free zone here too. And I do use the Clarity slider sparingly in LR in any case.
