We have some of the best video cameras for indies and average folks in the current Olympus and Panasonic models, how can we get the video forums more active?

DVXuser is a great place with lots of professionals users, but it would seem that we have Many 43 users here it would seem that a subset would be active video users.

How about a "short of the month" type event to get the video users and potential users more involved here. Would you like to participate as a video learning tool?

    Just thinking out loud.

Sorry Jeff, but it just isn't gonna happen here. The vast majority of users here are stills-focused (for whatever reason).

I agree that we have some of the best video cameras available on the market today, but people in this forum just don't seem to care. My guess would be that people don't want to go through the effort and expense of editing videos (even though videos are a far better documentary tool than still images IMO).

I would like to see more video-centric people on this forum, but that's just not going to be something that's going to happen. If you're looking for that, you're far better off at a place like DVXuser or EOShd unfortunately.

Video is a LOT more labor intensive. I want to do it, but I never have the follow through to edit my stuff into something watchable.

I'd like to get more into video, even picked up some gear just for doing so over the years... but trying to figure out final cut pro was more of a nightmare than I was expecting. However I recently picked up LumaFusion for my ipad, and it's surprisingly easy to use, so I might be trying to do some more stuff with video soon.

I would love to see more mft video content. Even though I would't be creating any myself.

I don't know what DVXuser is, but maybe someone can ask mft users over there to crosspost things here.

It would be great to add some diversity on this forum.

Also, it might be nice to add to the poll something like: "Occasionally. Just to see what its like."

@ijm5012@ijm5012 lets be honest... drugs would be cheaper than photography.

    Not sure you can.

Is there a link at the top for you that says "Thread Tools" ? That is where you modify a thread title.

Sorry, but I have only mistakenly ever used video, then getting action shots of my feet! I would be fine if my camera did not even have video capabilities.

Video (motion picture) is the main reason I have Panasonic. Just hit a real "dry spell" and had a lot of things "get in the way". The challenge idea worked very well over on dvinfo.net a few years ago, it's a heckuva lot of fun and all participants, competitors, and "lurkers" learned a lot.

Ahh, that is why I couldn't post!

I think that one of the problems with m4/3 video is that many shooters here would prefer that it work like a point and shoot camcorder.

    I like the challenge idea.

How about the obvious - a short holiday piece due on Jan. 2 ? I'd be in. I'll setup a challenge in the video to share forum. Can be short unedited or ready for the big screen, will work on that and get it up if we have some takers.

I've been doing a 365 stills project for 2017, but am toying with doing a weekly (maybe monthly) video for 2018. If so, I'll probably throw a number of them up here, like I do some of the photos for the current effort
