I was shooting a pageant using my E-M1, but while shooting the video I took bunch of pictures, thus splitting the videos apart. Now I have bunch of videos few minutes in length. What software, free if possible, I can use to join all the *.mov files from the E-M1 into one video file?

    Thanks

There's nothing really decent, that's easy to use, which is free. I've tried plenty of them and eventually bought a copy of CyberLink PowerDirector. It's been one of the highest rated editing programs, for the price, for a few years and I can certainly say that it's quite good for what you pay.

If you have a Windows PC then try Movie Maker from Microsoft, it's a free part of the Windows Essentials package. Nothing fancy, but you can join, split and do simple fades. You can then save in a variety of formats including MP4. It's even got links to share directly into Facebook, Flickr, YouTube etc.

I tried, Go Pro Studio, it does not support *.mov files for editing. Trying Windows Essentials now. Does anyone know if Olympus offers joining the videos in their software.

Does Windows Movie Maker really support MOV files on EM1? It never did for the EM5.

I just tried merging 3 clips from my E-M5 in Windows Movie Maker on Win 7 - works perfectly without a hitch.

Thanks for everyone for their suggestions. Windows Movie Maker works. Thanks MadMarco. Wish Olympus had something to edit the videos.

I've never been able to get Movie Maker to even display any of the .mov files, let alone work on them.

I only installed it on my computer a few months ago, Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331). I wasn't sure it would work with mov files but yeah, it does so with ease.

    Ray,
You might need a codec installed... Can Windows Media Player play your files?

I have just finished splitting apart some EM1 video files using Windows Movie Maker under Win8.1, works really well and is a lot more stable than it used to be. Now to fire up Premier to do some cuts and fades between clips, WMM does have it's limits

So Windows Movie Maker thumbs up

Don't recall installing any particular codec packs but I do have a few video edit programs on the PC

Nope. I can view the .mov files in OV3 (and do some form of editing), VLC media player, LR Library or PowerDirector (full editing), but not WMP/Movie Maker. To edit in LR, I'd need to install Apple Quicktime, which would only happen if you put a gun to my head.

I'm on Win7x64 too. That's odd it doesn't work for you.
