I am trying to find out how to do electronically zoom in the camera in the field. Of course I am aware that I can zoom in with lenses, but this is not what I am talking about.

I want to check for critical focus. I know it is possible to do this.

Are you asking about the Magnify function or the 2x digital zoom?

    Turn on focus peaking.
    Edit: sorry, that doesn't zoom.

I believe it is the Magnify function, but I am not sure. I once had it set up to magnify up to many times the normal zoom. Do you know how to get the Magnify function to activate?

Christop82, I played with focus peaking but it did not, as you suggest, magnify.

    Thanks Dick

I have magnify assigned to a button. You can do this under the gear menu. You can also setup MF assist so that when you turn a focus ring that magnify engages. I don't remember where that is off the top of my head.

Should be an option in your AF/MF settings menu. MF assist > Magnify > on/off. If that's what your looking for?
Or assign it to a button as phocal stated.

In the menu go to Custom settings / A3 / MF Assist and you can turn magnify on from there. If that's what you mean.

I think it is what I have used before, but I remember being able to zoom in to 3x, 4x, etc. But the MF Assist is good.

You can change the magnification, again I can't remember off the top of my head.

You can change the size by clicking the 'info' button. This works both on my EPM1 and EM5.

Thanks Gerald, I can magnify by adjusting the manual focus, but on my EM1.2 the amount of magnification is set at 3x. Actually that works for me.

I notice that you are from Utrecht , The Nederlands. I went to school in Enschede.

I am sure there are great schools in Texas, things over there can't be that bad? :)

After pressing the info button, try turning either the front or back dial. On my EM5 it changes the size of the magnification up to 14 times.
