Just bot a new E-PM-1 for $399 at BH a few weeks ago when they had a sale going on. Would like a second body. How often do they go on sale? I se one seller at Amazon with them discounted. But prefer to buy from well known cam retailer.

yeah absolutely don't hesitate to go with the refurbs from cameta - full warranty from olympus and dirt cheap. sell the kit lens and pick up that 2nd body for about $200. Better yet get yourself an e-pl3 for a bit of diversity.

I also have the $299 refurbed EPM1. It only had 250 shots on the shutter, and came with all the accessories in the box, flash, cable, etc. You get a one year warranty too.

250 is OK. But what happens if you get 6000?

Nothing happens, it still works. I know because my refurb had a touch over 6000 on it, still looked and acted new. :)

I really wouldn't worry. Either the camera was properly refurbished or it wasn't. There's not really any way of predicting shutter failure - some die after 200 shots, some after 200k. Nominally most consumer DSLRs/ILCs are expected to be good for 50-100k, but so few get used that long that it's largely a theoretical concern.

50k? just a few timelapse days and it's done. For all timelapsers, buy extended warranty.
