I've usually traveled with two bodies, but have generally not carried both simultaneously. I try to be somewhat discreet and two cameras hanging off me would not help me blend in. However, I want that 2nd body along just in case the first one conks out. When I'm shooting around home, I'll deploy one body with a standard zoom and one with a telephoto zoom or a macro lens or other prime, depending on what I'm shooting. Quicker and easier to grab one body or the other instead of changing lenses. Also, when I shoot with one body, I tend to use the lens mounted pretty much for most photos, choosing subjects that are suited for that focal length rather than changing the lens. I know that's lazy, but I can't help it sometimes.
I also know it's recommended (I said it myself) to use bodies that use the same battery when traveling, but had that situation only when I had an EM1 and an EM5. I sold the EM5 and now have the EM1.2 and EM1 so back to dissimilar batteries. Can't afford two EM1.2s. I might bring my PL5 as a backup body instead of the EM1, so again I'd have dissimilar batteries. Means bringing different chargers and two sets of spare batteries, which is a bit of a pain.
