How I Shot the Eclipse

    I used my $2 garage sale telescope (D=114mm F=900mm) and a manila envelope. This was a half hour ago. Maximum is in ten minutes.

    I was surprised to see the sunspots. I was also surprised that such a small slice from the sun made it noticeably darker outside.

    I used my E-PL2 with kit lens at 14mm. It was really hard keeping the sun within the telescope view. The oblong spot of light at the edge of the sun is from the hole in the envelope flap.

    We were supposed to see it at 50%, but It was cloudy here today...

    Totally cloudy for the eclipse. Cleared up later in the afternoon.
