Typically how long does it take to lock? 1 second or more like 3-5?

It seems the OM-D has about the same speed as the E-P3 with 4/3 lenses and MMF adapter.

    it depends upon the lens.

the oly 50 f2 will hunt - zoom out, zoom in and then lock.
    the 14-54 mk2 locks within a sec
the 50-200 non SWD will hunt - zoom, out, zoom in and then lock.

    this is on stationary targets.

for the 50 f2 and the 50-200 i use manual focus. gave up auto focus.

    others may have different experience.

As long as it's within 1 second, I think that's acceptable.

The NEX LA-EA1 seems to take about 3-5 seconds that is just impractical with both SSM and SAM lenses.

The ZD 50 takes 2-3 seconds. If it loses focus and racks back and forth then it will be even longer (yay no focus limiter). Most of the time you're better off manual focusing.

Haven't had experience with any other 4/3 lens.
