In my local National Park, there are a number of old farmhouses that are no longer inhabited. The park fixes some of them up, repurposing them as needed for various tasks.

Others are left to the hands of mother nature, and sit quietly, slowly falling apart, until only bits and pieces show through the brush. This is a study of one such house, as it slides into oblivion.

Here it is as you approach it from the street. The wrap around porch still holds pieces of the details that must have made it a lovely sight to the original homeowner.

What a merry little fire must have burned in this brick chimney. Hedged in by pines, with a fire crackling away, it must have been a lovely place to spend a snowy winters night.

What country home is complete without a shed? Just a short walk behind the house, this cozy little shed sits at the edge of a hill. It seems an inviting place to while away the hours, tinkering with this or that.

If you need the facilities, they are just a short walk down the slope from the house.
