Firefalls is a nick name given to the Horsetail falls phenomenon that take place during about the last two weeks of February when all conditions are united...good amount of snow in December-January, Warm February so the snow can melt to form the Horsetail falls which is dry most of the time and finally no clouds to obstruct sunset.

This was on my bucket list for a long time but lately California was in a drought so no snow nor water falls...however this year we got tons of snow, if you remembered my previous post post Yosemite National Park in Winter.

Last Saturday with a few friends we went in hope to catch it...Boy we were lucky, all perfect condition.

[2] With the water flowing so strong that time to time a mist would form and will fly up and caught this the day before Valentine's Day

I'm a bit perplexed the glowing waterfall... how is it being lit such that the surrounding rocks are dark while the water glows?

Great effort, great set. Back in May I walked all around the horsetail falls area and couldn't even find where it occurs.

    Thank you @Clicka@Clicka, @wjiang@wjiang, @hazwing@hazwing, @bluzcity@bluzcity and @maritan@maritan.

When the sun is setting, the light hit the El Capitan face and the water falls is slightly behind the wall as the light move the width of the light getting narrower and narrower to finally lite only the waterfall.

Here is a timelapse video I made from all my picture I've taken...it's a little bit jerky, that's because I didn't planed as a timelapse

The water falls is seasonal. It happened only if we have a lot of snow in December and January then when it melts the overflow water made that water falls.

Thank you @Holoholo55@Holoholo55 and @Kalifornier@Kalifornier. Surprisingly enough there wasn't that many people...I would say less than 50 photographers...I think that is because Michael Frye predicted that the optimum period would be February 19 to 23...so I expected there would be much more people on those date...but they might be surprise because the weather prediction is snow on Thursday...it could be great once the sky clears up.

I feel very lucky to live so near by this special place that I love so much. Every year I buy a National Park year pass even though most of the time I just go to Yosemite :)

@Nam-in-Sonoma@Nam-in-Sonoma This is just beautiful and inspired work. Your photos (this set and the earlier one) have convinced me that I really need to get to Yosemite in the winter.

If you don't mind sharing, I would like to know what you did in post-processing for these, especially the last 2.
