You can get this wind reduction cover for the Rode mic for about $40.

Looks like its made from fake fur fabric, which I've seen in the fabric store.

Any reason why you can't make one for yourself and have it be as effective?

I've been looking at those cheaper ( much cheaper) home-made stabilizers too---a little creativity goes a long way sometime!!

Reasonable idea for my E-PL1 - but not the Rode Mic

    Thanks for the helpful input.

I had never heard it called a "dead cat" before. I had heard "wookie", "fuzzy", "furry", "muff" and "caterpillar". Learn something new every day!

I almost always refer to mine as "dead cats". That, or windscreen. The one I hadn't heard was "caterpillar".

I of coarse had heard it called a windscreen , it's correct name!

Anyway it might depend on where you are at and what projects you work on. A friend who has worked on several feature films gave me another one of "muppet on a stick" well that is the clean version at least , I will let you figure out the dirty name by yourself.
