Hi everyone I recently got my first M43 camera, a Olympus EM10 II with the two kit lenses.

Previously I have been mostly a Pentax shooter starting with an ME Super in the late 80s and moving along to digital.

I decided I am ready to get a good small camera system and here I am.

Greetings from NoVA, Mr. Bassie! The E-M10 (original version) was my choice when I decided to learn more about photography, and it is a great buy.

Rick, I would love to do that photowalk in Richmond, have been meaning to travel down to Lewis Gintner but I don't think next weekend will work. And I-95 on Memorial Day weekend is never a good idea.

That sounds like it would be some halfway point between a parking lot and Road Warrior.

    Thank you all.

I am a member of Lewis Ginter and go there as often as I can. Am thinking about getting a Voigtlander Nokton for pics there.

I've had good luck with the oly 25mm f/1.8. It's great for the price and sized well for the E-M10.

My favorite lenses for gardens are primes, especially if you want to keep your kit small and portable but want faster glass/shallower depth of field.

    For example:

    Oly 45mm
    14405699155_1f0954d740_b.

    14345282173_e6decde05a_b.

    Oly 25mm
    14282749294_57df965d6a_b.

    16905988764_86b9735698_b.

Oly 75mm (bigger/heavier than the other two tiny ones, but stunning quality)

    26330287770_9bba71395e_b.

    20573222009_5b52707b29_b.

    24853129441_5b81413190_b.

Another option would be the Oly 12-40, which would be around the same price as the Nokton (especially if you buy on sale or refurb or used). Huge step up from the kit lens, though significantly bigger and heavier, too. It's a tradeoff - some people prefer to bring along a bunch of small primes, others would rather have a good zoom to minimize lens changes. I usually go with the zoom when I travel or when I'm with others and primes if I'm on my own and can take the time without slowing them down.

Nice pics WendyK. Especially like the 75mm ones. I only have the Oly 45mm at this time. Might head to the garden today.
