Hi All!

First, I like to say I'm happy that I found this site because I recently upgraded myself from a point and shoot camera to a micro 4/3 and looking for fellow photographers who share and critique one another.

A little introduction of myself... I recently started photography as my hobby primarily because it relaxes me, and it's FUN!

Since I'm totally new into this, I would like to share some pictures I took with my new Olympus E-P2 and have some critique so I can better myself next time. With this here are some of my photos I've taken.

Nothing was altered in terms of toning, color correction, contrast, etc...

Welcome to the site. Love your photos. Im sure the xperts will have some more constructive comments. I like the night time and moon shots. Keep posting pics of New York. Im sure anything on the street, subway or train would be very interesting to look at. What lens did you use for these? 14-45 if you didnt crop i guess.

Hello and Welcome! :friends: thanks for sharing your images... I like the night-time images of the fair... it would be great if you could get closer some time!

Hope you stick around, this is fast becoming the place to be for m4/3rds users :2thumbs:

First and foremost, welcome here and make yourself a home.

Your pictures are nice, really. Good eye, pleasant composition.

There is a big 'BUT'.

In real life, the water is *always* level - that's a physical reality. And sadly, you have a (natural) tendency to sway downward when you push the trigger. So visually, the feeling is your images are spilling to the right !

Use the e-p2 levels, and be careful not to force on the shutter button. Use the inner part of your finger (not the tip) to gently apply just enough force to trigger the shutter.

We have a wonderful project here to help improve our skills. We informally call it the 'one picture a day' project. You just post one single picture every day to your blog on this site, and take part as you can to the round of criticism along with other members. The aim is to publish 90 pictures in a row, but we're quite lax about 'rules', so pay us a visit (click on the blogs button at the top).

Again, welcome, we're looking forward to see more of your pictures soon !

@jbart - Yes, I'm currently using 14-45 that came with this package. I'm thinking of getting a 9-18, but it's too pricey for me right now, and I just want to get use to my oly and learn all the settings before I get a better lense.

@Brian - I'll definitely stick around since I found my m4/3 sanctuary

@mauve - I see what you mean about swaying downward. I will need to work on that.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I will continue posting my pictures for everyone's critique and enjoyment!

Welcome aboard, MavRax, from another native New Yorker! We natives don't have to live in the city.

Congratulations on your E-P2, I think you're off to a great start. Check out the Olympus forum's stickies - Brian's Quick Start is very helpful, regarding camera settings. We've got the Image Works forum, too, which I think you'd find quite helpful. Throughout the site there are some great threads about both the technical as well as the aesthetic sides of photography.

I look forward to your involvement here, MavRax, and I really like that pier shot with the moon overhead.
