I thought i was in for a long update session as I have all nine of those lenses. Fortunately the updates are limited to disabling the MF clutch and something for video.

I can't imagine ever wanting to disable the clutch, and video doesn't interest me, so it looks like I can save my time.

Thanks. I updated everything. It looks like you can use the Olympus updater to update panny Lenses.Cool! Some people were saying you had to download a new updater. I updated everything including EM-1 am D5 Mk II with Olympus Digital Camera Updater 1.03. What's this talk about having to use a new updater?

Yeah, El Capitan has issues with all but the newest version of "OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater".

You may have just saved me a lot of time as well. I also have most of those lenses. Thanks.

Olympus has never said exactly what the lens firmware upgrades do. There may be improvements beyond just the clutch and the smoother aperture feature. For the sake of 15 minutes surely it is worth upgrading your lenses. I did the camera and three lenses in 10 minutes.

I used to have problem with Olympus camera updater, but if I just open up the OV3 and use the updater build in OV3, I never have any problem since.

I have comprehensive custom settings on my M5II. The update will reset my camera. Is there an efficient way to get all my settings back? The 'manual' way would be a nightmare.

I agree, Olympus should let users back up camera settings, it's been long time what users ask for....

I think the best option (such as it is) is to write all your settings down and then manually re-enter them. There's a spreadsheet somewhere on the internet that has a structured list for you to complete. I have to agree that the lack of a "save settings" function is a major omission on such a complex piece of kit.

I don't think so, sharper lens require better lens element.
I wondering why Olympus never tell what's the update in lens firmware?

The E-M1 spreadsheet is available from biofos.com; How to setup, configure and customise your OM-D E-M1. ... it covers through firmware 3.1; I added a few rows to my copy for 4.0.

Another option is to print a copy of the Menu Grid from the 4.0 manual and mark your settings.

And add the option to disable the clutch on the lenses that have one (3 Pro zooms + 17mm f1.8 at least).

Oh my goodness, this is like using a Sinclair ZX80 without the cassette deck. I'm not sure I can face it. How stupid can Olympus be?

I'm still on V1.1 of my E-M1 firmware for this reason. though V4 has enough stuff of interest that it is finally time.

I also bought a 40-150 Pro, so I think I need to update for them to work better together, too...
