OK... The owners manual is totally lame. It will tell me how to change settings but nothing about what the settings DO. There are a couple of books on Amazon for Lumix but none for G3. There are books for G2 and GF1, however. Can anyone tell me if either camera is similar enough that one of these might help? Or, which of these is the most similar to the G3?

Agree that the manual is blah...........best way I found to get to grips with the nuances is to read some of the better (extensive) online reviews. You might try Cameralabs and Photoblog for starters.

Agree about the manual, however the panasonic menus are quite similar on the G series cameras, one book that may be worth a look is the quintessential guide to the GH2.

Is the GH2 the most similar to the G3? I have read many of the reviews but it is hard to get a comprehensive look at things.

The gf1 book wasn't any better than the manual.

    X2 for checking the reviews
