I bought a camera on ebay and the seller did not disclose until after the transaction that the camera was Korean. The seller did send a link to the English manual and the firmware site. I have tried to follow the directions: I have a SD card with the 1.4 version of the OS loaded on it and have tried to update it using the instructions in the English manual, which are: fully charge the battery, put it in the camera, turn the camera on and press the "play" button, (which according to the manual is the button next to the AE/AF lock button) and then select upgrade firmware. When I do that on the Korean camera I *do not* get a screen that looks anything like the upgrade screen shown in the manual. I get a very short view of something that looks like a hourglass, and then go to what looks like a normal viewfinder screen. Obviously I can not read Korean, so I really don't know what is going on. Has anyone else changed a Asian language camera to English by updating the ROM? Is this even possible? I went to a camera store that had a GF-1 and they tried to help me but they could not get it to work either. I don't think they had ever upgraded the firmware (English -> English) before. Help!
