Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to the forum. I've been taking pictures with a digital camera for a good decade now and I have always been using Sony and Canon point and shoots. I mainly used the cameras that had manual controls like the Sony S70, F717 and Canon G5 as well as some regular P&S with just exposure control like the SD410 & SD980IS.

A lot of my friends who I learned with went up to Canon and Nikon DSLRs which I have had to pleasure of using but I never felt the need for such form factor as a daily photo device. I really love using my friend's D200 with 50mm 1.4 lens. While they took pictures with their DSLRs and didn't learn the basics I stayed true with just P&S cameras and learned how to exploit them to the fullest of potential. And today I am now ready to move onto ILC's! :D I just ordered the GF2 from the newegg.com Black Friday promotion so I'm excited what it has in store for my photo future.

My passion in photo taking is of solid objects like cars, travel, building interiors, but I have never really got into people until I was able to use a DSLR that can quickly capture a moment of expression with dramatic effect that I would not get with an enthusiast's P&S if it weren't for that blue moon to get my lucky picture. I'm hoping this GF2 will allow me to slowly step into this side of photography so I may one day graduate to a larger, faster, more $$$ camera.

Anyways here are 20 pictures I have taken and edited with P&S cameras over my days so it'll help you better know my eye. Enjoy...

Wow, that's great work from a point-and-shoot, Trevor!

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Edmonton, but my momma and step-dad live in Vancouver.

Sweet! I've never met any Trevor's! :)

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I look forward to learning this camera when I get it.

It's funny my friend says I take pics with a P&S and after post processing, they look like what he takes with his DSLR. Not quite!!! P&S are noisy, unsharp, and hard to get DOF compared to a DSLR.

Here are some DSLR pics I've taken that need a lot more work when I see others but it could be lens choice. I only had access to the stock zoom lens with these Canon XT/i shots:

It was definitely about playing with the car more than the camera...
