    Hi everyone,

Just joined after starting to read this site regularly a few weeks ago.

I've been an amateur photographer for many years now, starting with 35mm, then moving to digital P&S, then Nikon DX, and now using both Nikon and m43.

I'm probably going to switch mostly to M43 over time (I'll see how well I can do with it and running greyhounds). When my son was born 5 months ago, I loved having a capable, small camera to take along to the hospital. The Nikons would have been to big. I know I'll also love it for travel.

Welcome! I don't get to log on here too often, but often check out the recent posts. Sounds like a NJ photo crawl may be in order.

That for the welcomes. And two of you from Freehold? I haven't been to Freehold in many years now, but I did work there for a short time, before the company moved to Eatontown.

Maybe a photo walk somewhere in the middle would be in order, out in the pine barrens or something like that.

    Welcome!

What would you shoot in the Pine Barrens - Batsto maybe? I'm from the Philly area - there's a decent SE PA contingent around here - we're probably closer to neighbors than you are with North Jersey. We spend some time around LBI and points south each summer.

I've done some long bike rides around the Barrens - about fell asleep, even while pedaling!

Closer to Philly, and actually closer to Wilmington than that. I'm about 10 minutes from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. A quiet little part of Jersey that few people seem to know about.

Yeah, Basto is more interesting than much of the pine barrens. I don't know if there are any other historical sites, maybe something covered in Weird NJ over the years?

When I was a kid, my Mom used to take me and my brother on the Wilson Line (river liner) down to Riverview Beach Park. (Yeah, I'm that old.) They had their own dock there. Would you know if there are any remnants of the park left? That might make an interesting photo excursion.

I actually know the park well, and there are only a few remnants now. It is currently a municipal park, with tennis courts, basketball courts, playing fields, a playground and the like. The dock is long gone, although there are some wooden pilings where it used to be. There is a pond that was used for one of the old rides. There is a wooden arch at the main entrance to the park, probably a replica. It's a nice place to go for a walk, bike ride, or to walk the dogs, but I've never found much of interest photographically.
