I’ve had this lens for some time but haven’t used it for a while, so I decided to give it a spin at my youngest daughter’s dance comp as I wanted to try something longer than I would normally use to see what results I would get.

It was indoors with very little natural light so I was worried that it wouldn’t be fast enough, but I was pleasantly surprised. If I nailed the focus, which was hit and miss with moving targets and no manual focus aids on my EPL3, then the images were pretty darn good! Loved the separation given by the longer focal length... I wish there was a cheap equivalent FL with auto focus... I picked this lens up for £10 and AF is the only thing I miss.

    Here are few samples

    P3065539-1. P3065549-1. P3065642-1. P3066021-1.

They are very good considering Chris. I'm not a lover of AF lenses but they can help with moving subjects.

It would be easier if they were moving but at a fixed distance... but they don't! Where we were sitting the dancers were moving towards or away from you pretty much all the time, and when they are at a fixed distance they are either too far away or too close. I tried to tweak the focus during a burst, but it was my first go at it so it's something I need to practice... and the focus peaking on my new EM10ii will help a lot when I get it!
