An evening brush with a hare (or two).
Last weekend we had a short break in Bedfordshire at a https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/ building, https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/search-and-book/properties/keepers-cottage-8764#Overview, situated on the Shuttleworth Estate in Old Warden.
We took an early walk out on the Saturday morning and spotted a hare in the distance, but didn't take any worthwhile photos. On the following evening, the weather was mild and clear, so cameras in hand we ventured out and got lucky on the same stretch of arable field:
I slowly walked towards the hare, taking a couple of photos at a time before I managed this long distance image and then the hare was spooked by my presence and ran away.
Slowly walking towards the last position I noticed a dark lump in the soil and slowly edged my way forward and found this little beauty huddling in a clear patch
The hare was well aware of our being there but showed no signs of being too nervous, until a couple of foxes started barking around us and then it was off: one second it was there and the next - gone. A magical encounter with a beautiful creature.
