Hanging Shoes - Amsterdam

    There are a couple of theories for this hanging shoes in Amsterdam, they are at least a curious sight to see.

    The first time I came across this practice was when I worked for the US Government in West Berlin (in the 1980's so pre the wall coming down), troops that were due to rotate out of Berlin would hang thier shoes as a sign they were due to depart very soon.

    This may be totally different in Amsterdam but it is one theory.

    Some say students put them there after school is finished, that's close :smile:
