I think you could turn around and sell all that for a profit on ebay. Pretty great deal if you are looking at a gx8.

Is the 12-60 moving so slowly that it needed a kick start? I can see moving GX8 inventory though.

Hard not to buy this deal, both B and H and Adorama has it. both colors of the camera. $150 gift card, it means you are paying $840 for kit. The question is how good 12-60 is, is it worth $120 over normal amazon $729 price for imported GX8. At least you are getting US Warranty

I think the $729 GX8 international model at Amazon is for the body only.

yes....the reviews for 12-60 are not superb, it is just a basic kit lens with a slightly longer range. I already have 12-35/2.8... $150 gift card from BH is nice of course, anyone can use a $150 BH card:)......

Well Amazon will give you a $301 gift card for it on trade in. So that means after giving Amazon the 12-60 (they pay for shipping, no need to list on E-bay or anywhere else) you've got $450 of gift card between Amazon and B&H so the GX8 - full US warranty and don't forget the free extension to three year warranty - for $550.

If you want to buy a GX8 this is your deal...

And as a similar thought, Amazon will give you $594 for the GX8 in its box. So if you want a 12-60 then this is also your deal. After gift card from B&H and gift card from Amazon on GX8 trade-in you'll get the 12-60 for $250.

Personally I'm not interested in either the lens or the body, but if I was interested in either I'd be jumping on this.

I did not think about it. Gift card from Amazon I would love because I always use Amazon. This makes this deal even better, with $150 from B&H and $301 from Amazon. That's $450 in highly used cards, bringing down the effective price of GX8 to $997-450=547. Now I've only seen the black GX8, is silver GX8 pretty or is it hideous ?

I haven't seen either. On my GM1 which is silver I think it looks fine, but I'm not that fussy. When I checked earlier the same deal was available for the black GX8 too, so if you prefer black that should be possible to do.

Also, word of advice on the Amazon trade-in - their pricing is dynamic based on how many they have to sell already. So I'd recommend if you go that route to apply for the trade-in right when you order the GX8 kit. Amazon gives you a number of days to actually send the trade-in to them. So that way you lock in a known price for the trade-in. Otherwise there is some risk that between when you order the kit and it gets delivered that a bunch of people have played the same trick and the trade in price for the lens will have depressed a bit because Amazon got so many trade-ins.

12-60mm is a very good range, from wide to tele. I don't consider 14mm wide enough. I was considering this lens but then Oly announced a 12-100 F4 so I decided to wait for that.

Olympus didn't announce a 12-100. A rumor site said that that they might.

BS. 43rumors reported that it was confirmed (not "might" as you allege) and he is usually spot on. When he says "confirmed" it means he has heard it from at least 2 different sources in the company (eg Olympus).

(FT5) Olympus will launch a new 12-100mm f/4.0 PRO lens this autumn! - 43 Rumors

I'd rather wait till the fall and see if it does come out

I went for black since I saw black in person. Did not see silver in person and did not want to take a chance

Well that's still not "Olympus Announced". That would be an Olympus press release announcing the lens, its features, a picture of it and a price and release date. So your post was in fact not accurately worded and tkbslc is absolutely correct that all that's been posted so far is on a rumor site. Now, the rumor might very well be true and with high enough confidence that it is worth waiting to see what actually gets announced in the fall. But in no way has "Olympus announced" anything at this point.

I for one have zero interest in f4 lens on m43 format. It is like mounting 24-120/f8 on my full frame Nikon. In my mind walk round zoom on m43 gotta be 2.8 and brighter and primes 1.8 and brighter. Just one Persons opinion though
