Grey Image in RAW

Here is the puzzle. I have decided to shoot RAW, now that I am using Photos on my mac, previously when I used iPhoto it would not recognise RAW, but Photos does.



So far so good, I got out my OMD M1 mkii, changed over to RAW took some test shots, downloaded, no problem.



I then got out my OMD M1 mkiii changed over to RAW took some test shots, downloaded, no image just grey! However, the images downloaded to Luminar Ai and Olympus Workspace no problem.



Probably something simple, I just can't figure it out.



Any ideas.

The OMD M1 mkiii RAW files are not yet supported by Apple. Current list can be seen at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211241

OMD cameras currently supported are

• Olympus OM-D E-M1
• Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II
• Olympus OM-D E-M10
• Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II
• Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III
• Olympus OM-D E-M5
• Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II5

A trick I have used on raw files for not-yet-supported updated camera versions (e.g., E-M5 mk3) was to use exiftool on the raw file to change the exif info to a compatible older camera (E-M1 mk2). Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it worked for me in a pinch.

Depending on what you want to convert into or use it in, Olympus Workspace, Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom, Graphic Converter, and even Darktable I think might do it.

That is, I think all will convert from raw, target capabilities may differ. In some you may find it easier to just have them use the raw directly for your editing - but if your goal is to get everything into Apple Photos, obviously you'll want to convert.

Yes, why don't you just open it in Olympus Workspace and export it to 16-bit tif? You have to export the raw file anyway at some point.
