Gradation setting

I went to the OLY's website and looked at what this was about. It appears that changing this setting effects shadow's and highlight areas. My camera, by default, had this on Normal. What are other's using for this setting? Is AUTO a better choice?

Hi Dj,

if you're shooting jpeg, and want to capture lots of shadow detail - set Auto Gradation to ON... but be aware that this can sometimes result in noticeable noise as the shadows are boosted. Perhaps also switch Noise Filter to Low if you're going to set Auto Gradation ON.

Personally, I switch it OFF.

Dj, you might check out Kurt Tuck's E-P2 post from 12/27-01/03 2009 in The Visual Science Lab. He notes his settings and I found this article very useful as I have just received my E-P2 and 14-42 mm kit lens and am still in the "playing mode" (i.e. learning how it works).
