Anyone else into GoPro photography?? Almost as much fun as Micro4/3rd. I've only had it a few days and of course bought it to be used as an action cam but with 12mp, wireless shooting and a fast 2.8mm fisheye it's a pretty decent camera.

Just bought a new one this week. We had an early version (from ~2010) which my husband mounts on his motorcycle. The new one, with the remote, should be fun and safer.

OMG Nyan Cat t-shirt is awesome. I have a Swann camera, cheaper than the gopro but lots of the same features (mounting is the same bracket type as well), fun to have in the car and I'll try and make more interesting use of it this summer too.

Lol.. She has no idea what the Nyan Cat Meme is but loved the shirt, we got it at a local shirt shop ;)

I lost my older model to the Pacific trying to record some waves so was waiting for a deal before I got another. REI had a 20% off coupon so ended up being $319, had all the mounts from my old one.

Not familiar with the Swann, but after reading all the reviews about the GoPro Black I had been looking at other options.

Glad to see this post, your B/W photo's look good. I'm thinking of getting the GoPro 3 Black Edition, would like to see some color photo's at the three different focal lengths before I make the leap. Please keep us up-dated and let us know about the battery life. Thanks again for your post.

I looked at other options as well (the reviews seemed worse than GoPro's), and then went back to the GoPro Black reviews and decided they weren't that bad. It depends where you look, and the more recent reviews are better than earlier ones. I bought the battery back for ours, that doubles the battery life, as battery time was the main complaint I saw.

or self shooting a movie while driving a car on a trip from Gent in Belgium to Charles De Gaulle airport to pick up my other half

Your photos look pretty good concidering the lens and sensor size. Not sure if there is any real advantage to using one of these for photography but if you enjoy it then go for it. I am personally looking at getting the CamOne camcorder instead of the GoPro because it has a built in rear screen and interchanable lenses. You have to pay extra for a rear screen on the GoPro and to change a lens requires tearing the thing apart. My plan is to use it mounted on my scooter and as a crash-cam for some video projects I have in mind.

^^^ No real advantage outside of a fast w/a and being able to place it where you'd never be able to get a real camera ;)

I'm not a fan of the LCD back, you can use the gopro app on your phone which has wireless preview..

Tested the time lapse of a one way drive last weekend from AZ to CA

I am gathering footage of the adventures I get into on my bike. Hope to have some interesting video to make an edit soon.

Here are a few random photos too

I love mine. It's such a versatile little camera.

My husband mounted his GoPro on this Harley for our trip west (5,400 miles from Virginia to Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana). I'm on the blue bike in front.

I just picked up a Gopro 3 black, pleasantly surprised at the IQ. A bit of a warm color cast, but I'm ok with that. Much sharper than I had anticipated, my Contour HD was pretty crummy in comparison. There are just so many creative things you can do with the camera, I'm excited to get some good use out of it.

I saw a guy in San Francisco on a tour bus some two weeks ago shooting with the GoPro - he was taking stills. He had it taken out of the housing and it looked so tiny I envied him how light it was. Plus obviously the quality isn't bad at all. This is the true micro format :)

I'm craving one of those drones from B&H — they've gotten so much cheaper than they started out. It would be great fun to do some aerial shooting with the GoPro.

It is hard to resist the DJI copters, I'm seeing them in the $450 range on woot. Must resist.

Nice, you can shoot stills on a GoPro? Or are these just frames grabbed from the video?
