GM1 + Nocticron 42.5mm - an equal marriage ?

I have recently concluded a search and buy with a requirement for a very small camera that is silent in operation, Good IQ and Zoom.

It came down the the RX100ii and GM1 and I eventually chose the GM1.

I am more then impressed with the beautifully made device with quite frankly astonishing picture quality, even with the unexpectedly sharp 12-32mm. Will write more on this later.

However for now I have decide to get a few prime lenses with good light gathering.

I have to decide between the 15mm f1.7 and 20mm f1.7 ii as a mild wide choice.

I also want one other for 70-100mm (I tend to shoot at either 35mmish or longer then 70mm - not much in between!.

The 42.5mm f1.2 Panasonic seems sublime and looks good with the GM1 (black) but is slightly unbalanced.

I wonder whether anyone has shot with this combination and can comment (or actually any other larger then normal lens on the GM1 regularly)

many thanks in advance

I've used the GM1 with the 42.5mm f1.2 and also the 100-300m and its fine. You tend to support via the lens rather than the camera.

I have a E-PM1, combined with my Voigtlander 25mm it doesn't look sexy but I have no problem handling it.
The GM1 is a bit smaller than the E-PM1. I think best way is to rent the Nocticron or just take your GM1 to the camerastore and put the Nocticron on and decide.

Here a picture from DPreview with the E-PM1 with the Voigtlander

I sometimes shoot my GM1 with the Olympus 75mm which is kinda large as well. It's a little akward... and kinda defeats the purpose of the "small size" but its definitely doable. I do have a gariz case on my GM1 which gives it a better grip.

My favorite combo with the GM1 is the 20mm and 45mm. I feel like those are a perfect match for the GM1. But now that the 15mm is coming, perhaps size wise the 15mm is better.

I also found this review with the GM1 and Nocticron:

''While the lens overwhelms the diminutive Panasonic GM1, it is surprisingly light given its solid, metal barrel and lens hood. It matches the styling of the GX7 and GH3 perfectly, and feels very balanced. Despite the size difference, it was a pleasure to use on the smaller GM1.''

the GM1 with the 45mm reminds me of a spy camera for some reason.

the GM1 + any prime would be good

I've got the GM1 with the P14, P20, and O45. Also the Richard Franiec grip on the GM1. It all balances very well. In my opinion, you don't get a GM1 unless size is a major priority, and if size is a major priority you don't get the P42 instead of the O45.

I've tried the Nocticron on the GM1 (I have the Franiec grip)...and while "doable"...it's a bit ridiculous...the 45mm is a much better pairing IMO. That being said...can't beat that yummy rendering.
