I have been working on perfecting this shoot for a couple of weeks. I think I finally have the results in which I was looking.

Subject: Glass mason jars found in my parent's cellar. These jars are all at least 40 years old. Some probably much older than that.

Camera: Olympus E-M10, utilizing the Live Composite feature.

Lens: Leica Summicron-R 50mm F/2 set at F/4 with a Tiffen 82b light balancing filter.

    Light Source: iPhone 5s.

Post-Processing: All in Tonality. Converted to Monochrome, slight exposure and contrast adjustments. Added a pretty strong vignette. Other than the vignette, there really was little PP.

My next step is to work with a printer to get some prints made. Hopefully prints will turn out well. Otherwise it's back to studio to get better results.

Good work and very interesting. How did you manage to have such uniform lighting with your phone?

I don't want to give away my tricks! ;)

The lighting is actually a reflection from a glossy background. I kept the phone close to the plane of the lens shining toward the jar and reflecting back into the lens. It took me 3-5 minutes per image to get good coverage.

My previous post pretty much gave it all away.

I still have plans for those original images.

This evening I did a little more experimenting. I used the little Kaligar 8mm movie lens with Live Composite. I think these make for some interesting textures.

I got another jar to play with. This time using a Super-Takumar 50 1.4.
