    Hi Guys.

I went to see Jeffrey Lewis at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, and wanted to show some pics I took with my EP1.

All photos were taken with my Legacy OM 50mm 1.8 in full Manual mode (with manual focus) which I found to be pretty easy, even though it was my first manual focus lens. Lighting was a bit poor though!

    Cheers
    Adam

These are great. I have the same lens and I love it. Wish I had an Oly just for the in body stabilization. I think I'm going to look for an EP1 as well.

Thanks guys, very kind of you both!

I also took the Panny 20mm pancake with me, and to be honest it was pretty useless. took an age to focus, and there were no keepers with it.

With the EP1, I found the screen perfectly useable for manual focus, but having said that I have never used a a traditional viewfinder, so I don't know any better!

Very nicely done - I also have an E-P1 with the same lens. I continue to be impressed by the things it will do.

Really great pics! Good results in available light. I have just started using my new old E-P1 and am really loving it more than my E-PL1... Much better white balance and colour especially in low light, even if a tad noisier.

    Nice shots!

What settings did you use? I'm about to take my E-P3 to a concert with the Olympus 45mm f/1.8. Any advice?

    Hi
Well, because I was shooting with a Manual focus lens on an EP1, I had to take all these shots in full Manual Mode.

But as a baseline I kept the lens wide open at 1.8 my ISO at 1600, and never let the shutter speed drop lower than 1/60. I think most of the keepers were around 1/100

Luckily for me, the stage lights were quite consistent so I didn't have to change my settings too much, but when they did change I adjusted shutter speed accordingly with the main aim of freezing the action and trying to keep what I wanted in focus!

Because you will be using the 45mm you have the luxury of autofocus, which will make your job a lot easier, and I believe it's quite snappy as well on the EP3

I must say though, I have really been enjoying using the old 50mm and having to manually focus in areas of the stage. It feels much more satisfying. I took the 20mm pancake with me, and in all honesty it was pretty awful in this case.

Plus my 50mm lens only cost £30!

Oh, and try and get right to the front!!

    Thank you, Crazyhorse.

My venue was dark. Even wide open at ISO 1600, I couldn't doo much better than 1/30. Next time I'll fight myself up to the very front.

    Hello again guys.

I have been back out on my travels and took my EP1 and my 50mm to see Stephen Malkmus and Wild Beasts at Leeds University.

Bit harder this time, lights were changing a lot and it was very busy. Plus having a few beers and wearing leather soled brogues on a slippy floor is generally not considered an advantage!
