I should note that I've never heard of these people before, and I found the page by Googling "gh4 price" an hour ago. Take this with a grain (or a few grains) of salt.

    http://texasmediasystems.com/panasonic-gh4-pricing-and-eta-update/

    GH4 - $1699

    YAGH - $2000

    Both together - $3299

Thoughts? Anyone have any experience with this company? Likely that they'd be issued price sheets (presumably) weeks before an announcement?

Yikes. Hope it's a little cheaper than that. I've never heard of that company.

Yeah a stupid joke with the company's name. I was really hoping the GH4 would be the same pricepoint as the GH3 when it first came out around $1300.

The demand for a 4K video camera below $2K I thinking will make the initial price high. I think (who knows about this firm) the price will be within a couple hundred one way or the other of this price.

I was really hoping (perhaps against hope) for $1399. Would make it a lot more realistic for me in a few months than $1700 (~$1850 after tax).

If you don't need it right away, figure it'll be down around the $1300 - $1400 range in months.

My other secret hope was that it'd be down far enough to push the GH3 into the $799 range

Ah, well. All things in time!

I suspect the GH3 will remain in production quite some time alongside. In any case, 1699 is about what I was expecting, and anything under $2k was basically guaranteed to be instant purchase for us. Have you priced out a 4K camera lately, let alone a large chip model? I didn't expect the breakout box to be quite so expensive, more so than the actual camera. Not a piece that's useful for us, but dang. I assume it's competitively priced for markets that would use it?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking would happen. Didn't expect the attachment to be so pricey, but figured that it would bring the cost up for the video market.
