GH2 Using Microphone Jack for Flash

  1. I would like to be able to use an external flash on my GH2 without having an intelligent link to it. I have the FL-36 flash, but have discovered that using the hot-shoe attachment it will not operate in AUTO mode with adapted lenses. TTL-AUTO and MANUAL do work, but I prefer to use AUTO.

The GH2 Owner's Manual states that an external flash cannot be used while using a microphone. I am inferring that this means that the jack will also work as a flash connection, which I would assume is not intelligent as it does not support the required number of leads.

Can anyone confirm that the flash can be triggered by the microphone port? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for a 2.5" jack to Panasonic/Olympus hot-shoe connector that could be used with the FL-36 flash?
