I just read this on 4/3's rumors -

"Hold on guys! Adorama is offering an even more crazy deal on the GH2 with a coupon code. The offer starts in a couple of hours so please hold on! And the codes were “reversed”. Now it should be fine.

    Here are the deals:

GH2 with 14-42mm lens for $699.95 at Adorama (Click here). Please insert the Coupon Code “S1442144″.

GH2 with 14-140mm lens for $999.95 at Adorama (Click here). Please insert the Coupon Code “S2141401″.
    Limited Quantity at this price."

Wow...that is the cheapest I've seen yet. I got mine with the 14-140mm from B&H for $1199.

Nice..looking forwards to more price drops. I might crack when they inevitably hit 350/body like the GH1 did a few months ago. :)

Darn, I just bought my GH2 yesterday for $699 including tax, but Body only, no lens. I already have the Olympus Zuiko 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 mkII lens as my primary zoom lens, but I wouldn't mind this other lens as a back up or to sell =D

Oh well, no sense returning it now and getting hit that 15% restocking fee. Plus I already sold my Olympus E-PL2 and I don't want to be without a camera for however many days it'll take to get to Los Angeles =P

New forum member here, and seriously interested in the GH2. I just tried the links and coupons in the post below. The links work, but the coupons don't. Has anyone been able to purchase using these codes?

    cheers,
    Dave

    One for each hand.

Right now I've got a GH1 as a backup/second cam, which mean different batteries, chargers, controls etc. Two GH2s would simplify things. My life is so hard, after all....

Joe, where did you buy it? Was it at Adorama or any other place selling the GH2 at this price? If so, you might get 30-day price protection.

That was a Panasonic-run clearance, because the GH2 was already out for a couple of months, back in March. You aren't going to see that happen with this camera until the GH3 is out. Also, the GH1 wasn't really well-known to many people, while if you look today on forums, you'll see that the GH2 is well-established as a viable contender to SLR travel kits, so when Panasonic is ready to release the GH3, they might just lower the price a bit more, and thanks to all the exposure that the GH2 has had, you may not get a chance at a $350 GH2.

Considering there was about 2 years between when the GH1 was available in stores, until the GH2 was available in stores, is it worth it to you to wait at least 1 more year from today to get this camera? If you bought the GH2 kit right now, and you immediately sold the 14-140mm for $500, unopened and unused, you could have a GH2 today for $500. That's effectively paying a $150 rental fee to have the camera a year early, maybe $200 if you factor in your time and shipping the lens.

Thanks for the link, I guess! I've been thinking about the GH2/14-140 to complement my current m4/3 kit (E-PL2, 9-18mm, 14-42, 14mm, 20mm, 45mm), so I wasted about an hour and a half at work debating and just now pulled the trigger.

I was thinking about the E-P3 instead but I figure having the GH2 with it's built in EVF will give me the best of both worlds (Panasonic and Olympus). Plus I get into the telephoto range with the 14-140mm.

I guess this puts my E-30 and 50mm f/2 on the market. or maybe more, because i'm not sure that will cover $999. I'm starting to wonder if I need any "regular" 4/3 gear.

That's a good point. I could afford to do it..but I'm rather lazy to sell off the lens, and a pain given how much shipping costs in Canada. I suppose the more crucial fact is that I'm pretty happy with my E-P1 and G1..but yeah if the body only (or the 14-42) drops I'll be tempted to upgrade. Might as well sit on my money and see what else comes out--and that GX1 is beckoning..

Ordered the 14-42 kit. WOOT! Thanks for the link, that is a great price! I'll probably sell off the kit lens and go with primes and maybe an X super zoom when they show up.

I hope it's all it is cracked up to be...
