My brother recently bought a GH1. I was just playing around with the camera
(flipping the screen and changing lenses from oly lens - panny lens - legacy lens) and suddenly the screen went like this and it won't read any of the lenses and keeps warning me to put the lens properly (i've set the shooting w/o lens on and this image is still showing)

    i don't know what to do :s
(above is a photo taken from the gh1 with the 20mm attached)
EDIT: I was playing around with my colour mode when this happened

Take it back to the shop, or whoever you bought it from.
Nothing to do with colour mode.

Take out your battery and restart the camera.

    Try changing the SD card.

Have you installed the latest firmware? Try that or even reinstall it.

Blame your brother and have him buy you a new camera for screwing this one up. (Or go back to the store.)

Yup - read the manual - there might be a factory reset option too.

I wonder if perhaps one of the electrical contacts was damaged.

Have you tried having a look at/cleaning the lens contacts on the camera body? A drop of lens cleaner and a soft cloth solved something similar to this for me once..... as unlikely as it may be that it'll fix it, anything is worth a minute of your time before it goes back as faulty....

I tried cleaning the lens contact, reset setting, swap memory cards & battery etc and nothing happened :\ I've read the whole manual but i still can't find the factory reset option, the firmware is already at 1.3, that's the latest i think?
oh well, I'll probably have to bring it back to the store.
thank you everyone for the help :)

I had some similar issues too, it was the LCD failing, I was told. Also heard the CCD was the cause too.... They Panasonic; replaced an element and the problem went away.

Never heard specifically what was the cause.
