thinking of selling my 14-140 and wondering which body to keep...gf1 or g1?

i actually prefer the g1 in use but like the form factor of gf1.
having video is nice tho i have yet to actually use it.

i'm keeping the 20 and plan on using as my 'fun' easy to carry kit.

    any thoughts?

Keep the one you like and feel most comfortable using, so keep the G1.

    2 bodies for one lens?

    too decadent, even for me!

Well, most have 2 lenses for 1 body......

    Geeze...this is decadent isn't it.......

    but truth is....
a lifetime ago I used to carry an M4 with a 35 Cron or Lux with Tri-X and a spare body with either IR or High speed.....

    i'm leaning towards selling/trading the gf1 plus the 14-140.

In all honesty, I had the G1.. I think you read my post at RFF...
Anyway, it's a very good do all camera. I sold mine because I love the Pen cameras.
I had the Pen 1 and the G1...the Interface changes made me more crazy than I am...

    Now I have the Pen 1 & 2....
If I was in your shoes and decided to sell one..I'd do as you because the G1 is a more well rounded machine than the GF1....

The reason i said to keep both is because you have 2 distinct different forms of a similar interface.....

I'd keep the G1, I use it with my 20mm and sometimes the 14-140mm, i love the form factor and the G1's tiltable LCD and EVF, both of which I've found very usefull and would definately miss if I sold my G1.

The way I think about it is if I sold my G1 i wouldn't be able to replace it with anything of the same quality for its selling price, for example the G1 body in the UK fetches around £250GBP used, and all other M4/3rds bodies are atleast £450GBP

perhaps you could try shooting only with the G1 for a few days then a few days only with the GF1 and see which one u miss more ;-)

i have put the gf1 and 14-140 on the shelf for awhile to see if i 'miss' them.

after some thinking i am now looking for a 45 macro to pair with the fast 20. i like the idea of a 40/90 combo and just the g1. i might add the 14 if it actually is produced.

    i'd love to trade the 14-140 for a 45...

I'd say keep the G1. It has tiltable screen which useful for macro or crowd shooting and EVF. I also favor the external control of G1 with additional focus mode dial and film mode button.

    G1 is a classic

    I would keep the G1;

    EVF
    Articulating Screen
    Better grip for Zoom lenses
    Better Flash

Plus it is a Classic as it was the first and is simply lovely to hold.

I decided to get both - the G1 is a more 'sensible' camera, but the GF1 is just so small and sexy. :)

And I use mine for video too.

I have both and am keeping both. The G1 is excellent for mf and has a nice "balance" whereas the GF1 is great for travel and does video very well. It is worth trying some decent mf glass on the G1 before you make a decision, the viewfinder is the killer for me.

As someone said you are only going to get c£200 back if you sell the G1 and £300 ish back for the GF1.

well, i sold the gf1 along with the 14-140 and kept the g1 with the 20.
i also picked up a terraclime 50 bag, very small, but it fits the g1 & 20, plus a battery and card.
i hope to get the 45 macro in the future but for now, i'm paying down my credit card...

I don't think you'll regret selling the GF1 when you did. Now you can enjoy the G1 over the summer, and see what Panasonic announces at Photokina in September without worrying that the resale value of both your bodies just fell off a cliff. It's not like the price of used G1's can get much lower
