more great photos and a welcome to lpotatol

More really nice photos on this thread... I go away for for a bit and miss so much!

Scoutpro, thanks for posting more for me.

cstevens and steve - never a dull moment or photograph with you two! That soft boiled egg actually makes me want to reconsider eating one.

And here's a welcome to lpotatol who I believe just came on to the site yesterday! Very nice intro and great shots. I'm not sure which one like the best - that orange is fantastic, but I love the street benches...and that last one is out of this world with those wild colors. Please stop by the Welcome and Intro forum when you have a chance, OK? Glad you found your way in here!

Grum, those are great shots!! I especially like the ones with the microphones (are those Shure SM58's? - I work at Shure). :)

Thanks cstevens. That camera he has was my late Uncle's old Fujica AZ1 w/ a 210mm Braun tele-zoom. My son is 4 and I'm trying to teach him about film. He asked me the other week "Daddy, what's film?". I realized if we're not careful, there is going to be a whole generation that won't know the joys of film.

I have the same, my son is very nearly 4 and shows a keen interest in photography and mimicks me. He shows a good keen eye for detail shots, and this is why for his 4th on 30th he is getting a better camera than a crappy Fisher Price.

If they show an interest make it easier for them I think....he can take on my business when I retire in 28 years lol

That's about how long I have to go as well! I gave my son our old Canon A70. He too shows a good eye. I've already explained the key to good pictures isn't the camera, it's your eye. Well, unless you can afford a Leica! :)

Thanks :)

They are indeed yeah - I was the sound engineer for that gig, but managed to sneak in some pics as well. We use a lot of Shure stuff at work - SM58s are pretty much indestructible. I also use Shure carts on my turntables.

Some photos from Italy

Hello

I have been slowly been getting to grips with the GF1 to get the interface set up the way that I like (I have been hugely spoiled by my Ricoh compact, which has an amazing UI). I particularly like the 20mm lens on this camera. Here are a few pictures from a recent holiday in Verona and Lake Garda:

Tulips - Sirmione

I really like the shallow DOF you can get with the 20mm. There is a lot to practice and learn with this camera. One thing that I found is that the rear LCD is almost impossible to see in bright sun. Are there alternatives to the EVF?
