Knowing that this will be used mainly for my travel setup...

    1) is the 12-35 worth an additional $800 ?
    2) which is better for indoor low light performance ( i know the panny is faster, but maybe the OMD plays nicer with the 12-50

The first question is one you need to ask yourself, it is a high-cost piece of glass. To me, yes. I opted to buy the EM-5 body only and added the 12-35 later.

Without a question the 12-35 is a much better low-light performer. I feel comfortable shooting up to ISO 4000 for B&W mainly, you can keep the shutter speeds high enough to get people shots in very low light.

There was a thread yesterday discussing the lens/camera combo. I posted a link on there to a set of images from it.

If you're in the states, check out Amazon Warehouse deals (under 'used' on their price/source page for the 12-35mm) and do read the description of the item condition. Few days ago I saw one listed as 'Like New' without any defects listed (not even repackaged) for $909 or thereabout.

Haha completely way off the initial question!

Great choices though! And please post your impression/review when you get it :)

A little late with my reply but I'll say its like any very good piece of glass... once you start using it, you would never go back to the 12-50.

I could not agree more Jan.

I believe in buying glass once. Bodies come and good, solid glass will always pull the best performance out of the body.

    OK edit.

BH pushed back the EPL5 release date so I got the OMD with the 12-50. Arrived today, charging.

I got the 12-50 cause I only ordered one additional lens. The 25 1.4 -

I have been researching flick for 12-50 samples, and it seems capable enough.

    Thanks all
