...My hunch is this is a fancy way of not saying they just fell victim to a ransomware attack.

I think the ransomware suggestion is the most plausible due both to the length of the outage and the vague statements coming from the company.

If it were some hardware/ software/ configuration snafu I'm confident that they would've resolved it (at least partially) buy now. Or they'd at least be providing more concrete explanations and timelines.

The first rule of negotiating with a ransomware hacker is that you don't make any public statements confirming you're a victim lest the perpetrator gets angry and starts spilling your data around publicly.

The B2C site being down is probably pretty far down their list of concerns if the hackers have the keys to the whole operation.

I know that. My point with "still down btw" was that when I went to the website today, it was still down.

Yup. Looks to be up and running, and functional down to the e-commerce part too. My login still works as well. Can’t believe they were down for a whole week though.
