Inspired by some lovely images from old Trioplan lenses and threads found here (as those by @gnarlydog) I ordered bits and pieces from Germany, Russia and China to build my own projection lens for m43, a great tool for imaging flowers and close-ups. That is if you like the bubble bokeh effect of course... :) We're not talking razor sharpness and pixel peeping here.

Some images below from my first weekend with this lens.

rarely projection lenses will give you really sharp images but this one gives you bubbles :)
What lens did you refit? the Russian Triplet?

Thanks! This is the Diaplan 100 by Meyer Optik, that's a German brand, right?

sure is: I have one too. I had two, one went to my girlfriend.
The Diaplan 100/2.8 is my least sharp one but gives the biggest bubbles.
For a much sharper, cheaper and lighter the Diaplan 80mm f2.8 is very good. Smaller bubbles tho

So what bit is Russian in your set up?

The clamp and mount was ordered from Moscow (RAF Camera).

    The components top down:
    - 46mm UV filter (possible by glueing a 43 to 46mm stepring on the lens, an idea by gnarlydog)
    - Meyer-Optik Görlitz Diaplan 100/2.8 projection lens
    - 65mm clamp from RAF camera, 52.5mm inner diameter
    - Helicoid (65mm threads, 36-90mm zoom, bought on ebay from China)
    - 65mm to Nikon mount. Could have been m43 but I want to use my Metabones Speedbooster which is Nikon to m43. So the final step is either that or a plain Nikon to m43 adapter.
