Gale has passed, surf is up, sun is going down

Overnight we had a strong southerly gale with some torrential rain that caused flash flooding in Cornwall, here in south Devon the rain cleared by lunchtime and late this afternoon I ventured out to Mattiscombe Sands to catch the last of the sun. The surf was still up and crashing onto the beach.

and round Peartree Point to the east the light of Start Point lighthouse was flashing out, 3 flashes every 10 seconds visible for 20 miles, overhead a nearly full moon was shining

Thanks Bill, it's now a close run thing between the 12mm and the 15mm as to which is my favourite lens for this sort of photography. Not quite as sharp as the Panasonic 20mm, but I do love handling these older lenses when you've got time to set a shot up.

Thanks Stefan, the beach is not very wide and lots of rocks, so I guess surfers are put off, and a long walk down from the nearest cliff top carpark.
