My dad just got a G9 as an upgrade from his old g6. Setting it up I noticed that if you have a limited shutter speed so that the image will be underexposed the camera refuses to fire. I know that I have set turned this behaviour off on my GX8 and also on the GX80 off my wife, but I can’t figure out where to change this. Please help!

Which mode? If you're running in any of the program modes including P and probably A, it may exhibit that behavior. Try shooting in M or S and see what happens. I only shoot in M or P as a rule, and have experienced it in P from time to time. I just go to M and make the shot.

It happened in S. If I set the shutter to high in low light it refuses to fire instead of just underexposing. I found the setting though. It’s the Focus Release one which needs to be at balanced or release.

it’s a bit unfortunate that it’s coupled with the focus setting.
