    G3...Initial results, pics added.

You may have guessed that I'm one heck of a very happy bunny :whoo::dance2:

I took the G3 out this PM to Burry Port to put it through it's paces with both the 14-42 & 45-200.

Came home and stuck the resuls up on screen........

The quality of the images is outstanding, I was overwhelmed, comparable to anything I was getting from my D7000.

My wife and I could not tell whitch image was from the G3 and which was from the D7000.

And I don't have to worry about 'fine-tuning' to get the focus right.

The subject was the same boats moored in Burry Port harbour.

Very happy D in W, though I must admit to being a little sceptical about :43: to start of with.

OK, OK, OK here are your pictures, it was always my intention to add pics, but I was so excited with the images I had to tell someone as well as my wife.

Please bear in mind these are the very first shots I have taken with the G3, prehaps the setting were'nt quite right and I have to admit to being a little nervous.

All shots were using a sturdy monopod, I'm 68 and find that now I need one. Having said that I did take a couples of shots with out it and they too were excellent, so I may try hand-held.

The following shots are JPG straight from the camera, NO PP, just resized with NO sharpening.

I'm over the moon with the image quality results, if you are not please dont 'Rain On My Parade'

These pictures are to demonstrate IMAGE QUALITY only, not composition.

Pitures are from each end of the zoom range..45-200 & 14-42.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say anything negative about another person's photos on this site.

Cheers Dave. I like the 2nd last shot the most...at 14mm.

Posting your first images can be a little intimidating, it was for me....but I'm sure you will find just like I did that it's a pretty friendly bunch here.

    Look forward to seeing more.

Dave, the image quality is great. You're part of a growing band of photographers, me included, who are discovering that MFT offers more than enough for our needs. Many people still need a DSLR for all sorts of reasons but many of us don't - and those that do often run a mirrorless system as well now. There's no fun in carrying a bulky, heavy kit if you don't have to.

Thanks for posting these pictures which demonstrate why you are so pleased with your new camera and long may you enjoy shooting with it.

Sorry perhaps I did not make it clear in my post, the pictures are to demonstrate IMAGE QUALITY only.

Future pictures that I post you are quite welcome to say as many negative things as you like, in fact tear'em to pieces.

But I'd prefer positive things of course

Very impressed with the 200mm shots especially as I too own a G3. I must give my 45-200 more camera time.

"Gobsmacked" - definately. Your enthusiasm is exactly what I have been talking about re: the direct out-of-the-camera jpegs from the G3. The images are clean, clear, sharp with accurate color and really require no post processing yet can be further tweaked easily since they are so close to what you want they don't need much.

What always gets me is that you go out and shoot say 85 images, and from a technical standpoint, when you download them they are all great. From an artistic standpoint, that's another matter and I usually find only a few that I really like. But with the images already there technically, it is easy to spot the keepers without having to do any processing. A totally great camera.

I have, to one of my photos, but Amin was quick to delete it as it was against the TOS besides not being of any Critical value.
That move pretty much helped me to decide to only post to this photo site and pretty much ignore the other Forums i am registered on.
