Wanted to see the difference between the G2 and G3 at night.

Used the same Panny 20mm f1.7 but upped the minimum ISO to 3200.

  2. B&W always looks great in night time scenes. These are all G3 then?

Very interesting, thanks for posting. I have been wondering how the new high ISO bodies performed at night with fast lenses. Might be ideal for HK.

I have considered the G3 but like the GF1 form factor. Waiting for the GF7 or a G(3) successor.

    Really nice images BTW.

Some great images here, especially #1!

Buttttt... The selective colouring (IMO) adds nothing and takes away from the 'classic' feel of the shot.

Some great shots and shows the G3 as being more capable than I expected. I have to agree though, the Schindlering on shot 1 is criminal ;)

Very nice. What processing did you use?

Also what is that thing on the guys neck in pic no 3?

Yeah- I know.. but I wanted to do something edgy with that shot.

Funny thing is that on 500px (where you can vote on pictures) it's very warmly received.

But.. just for my friend in Tazmania.. the original version with Bokeh left intact!

That's exactly what I thought.. about Shindlers List and the Red Coat.

That was powerful, where this is just playful and mischevious to a degree.

    Great shots, thanks for sharing.

IMO, G2 looks worse than this at ISO 800.

  14. I think I'd prefer #1 as a straight B&W image, but it's a wonderful shot regardless. For the selective colour version I think it needed one more control point above the V of the suit lapels to remove the transition from red to grey.

    Wow, great pics. Amazingly clean.

I assume they were all taken in RAW?

Correct- the new "release candidate" version of Lightroom works with the G3 and EP3 now.

Great shots! What were you conclusions on the difference between the G2 and G3? My own quickie test, using only the 14-42 kit, showed the G3 leaving the G2 in the dust, but I wonder how the G2 would perform with a brighter lens like that 20mm.

In low light, it seems to focus faster and more reliably.. but tends to underexpose a bit.

I'm waiting for the 25mm F1.4 Panny to hit B&H

I wondered that. I'd heard about them but never seen it
