    Greetings,

Just studying up on a newly received G1 and I'm not certain about the use of the Pre AF function.

There are two selections in addition to just being turned off; Quick AF and Continuous AF.

I'd be interested in hearing from others if you find this function of value and in what kind of scenarios you use it for.

    Thank you.

I keep Pre AF set to 'Off'. Setting to "Continuous" causes the camera to try to focus all the time, which drains the battery. My understanding is that "Quick AF" starts to focus for you when the camera is still, prior to the half press. I haven't found a need for this setting either.

I don't use this focus setting, as already said it drains the battery, I reckon it is better to pre-focus for an incoming/moving into the frame subject.

Same here, I have this switched off.

Have fun with your new G1, it's a superb little cam.

    Cheers

    Thank you for your comments.

I really could not see a scenario where this might be of benefit but thought I might be misinterpreting the nature of the setting.
