    1) I've been browsing some of the camera settings and cannot see a way to activate the Extra Optical Zoom (EZ). Yes, I can set it to "on" in the menu, and choose lower jpeg setting as per instruction manual - but nothing actually happens ?

If I choose digital zoom it will give me a visible 2x or 4x magnification, but EZ zoom on its own seems to do nothing. There are no further instructions in the manual so how do I make it work ?

    2) I thought AF+MF on would bring the MF feature in when the dial was on AF. But it doesn't. To get any sort of manual focus I have to set it on the top left dial.

    Firmware is up to date.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You cant use EZ zoom with jpeg + raw
    ONLY jpeg
EZ zoom extends the zoom range of the camera it does not magnify

Correct AF + MF when set in menu requires that MF be selected with the dial

(With Olympus E-P2 AF + MF allows focus by wire any time (no extra setting)

I have it set to low jpeg only but nothing is happening in EZ mode.

AF+MF is a pointless menu option then as to get MF it has to be on the dial anyway ?

    I've sorted the EZ thing

been looking at it all day, but you need to set the file size to M(edium) rather than compression of jpeg to low - this now works.

    AF+MF still seems pointless

Is there a similar mode to ez mode in e-pl1?

"2) I thought AF+MF on would bring the MF feature in when the dial was on AF. But it doesn't. To get any sort of manual focus I have to set it on the top left dial."

With this set, half press the shutter to focus, and then keeping it half-pressed, adjust focus manually.

Thanks Tam, that works now. Thanks also Boyzo for tips. This is not set out in the manual at all clearly.
