I pretend not to notice the nice and probably expensive new dresses, I just smile cheekily and compliment her on how great she looks as she slips into something new. Luckily, she plays along and affords me the same courtesy with camera gear :)

a first few snaps with the RX1.

Welcome to the club Joe - hope you enjoy the RX1 lots!

Argh.

This thread isn't do doing me any favors in my upcoming decision of whether to sell my entire m43 set up and getting a Canon 6D and some glass.

My wife is a pro shooter, and I'd have access to all those lovely L lenses she's got as well, and since everything I ever shoot is from a tripod.....

Decisions, decisions.

Suggestion: don't sell all the Micro 4/3s, leave a body and a lens or couple of them. There *will* be times when the Micro 4/3s will be practical than a FF rig.

Congrats on your little beast of a camera. Now you're ready to fly Joe.

Gary

Cheers Gary. Up until on,y a few months back I'd never shot ANY camera other than an m43 so the Ricoh GR and now the RX1 is just me having fun trying new stuff and trying to make some good pictures.

Joe, wow an RX1! Is this the reason why the EM5 at the FS subforum?

Yeah, had 2 OMDs....still keeping 1 though. Certainly not leaving m43, heck, I just purchased the P35-100 so I'm definitely not leaving m43 :)

I've yet to find that to be the case, though.

Shooting 95% landscape and 5% architecture over the past 4 years or so, I've taken my gear off the tripod, literally, once, and I've got no problem lugging her gear and mine up into the high country of the Sierra/Yosemite/Inyos/etc...

I love mirrorless/m43 because it's what I started with and learned on, but the form factor just isn't an issue for me, and I drool when I see how the 6D does at high ISO.

If I shot 99% tripod, I wouldn't shoot µ4/3. D800E for me ... or a used medium format. At a minimum a 6D just for the free lenses.

Ha! The problem is I have other things in life to financially attend to and, as great as the 800E is, its cost and the cost with building up a whole new lens library are more than I want to get into.

That, and have shot both m43 and FF, selling shots from both formats, I find that overall the lenses for M43 are just overwhelmingly better in the bang for the buck factor. That's the one thing that might hold me back from making the jump.

That, and seeing how the sensor in the GX7 turns out.

Was blown away when I first opened these files up in LR and began working on them, I reckon if LR was a stonemasons mallet these files would take it....the level of detail is brilliant and hold up incredibly well to any sort of post-processing I threw at it. Now wonder DxO has this sensor as being only fractionally behind the D800 sensor. Look forward to trying it out with some real landscape stuff up in the mountains and along the Victorian coast this coming spring and summer.

Nice close-up ability I think....not really a macro shooter so this will more than do for my needs.
