I'm always super impressed with the Sigma f1.4 50mm EX DG HSM (the older non Art lens that can be had for super-cheap)... always delivers lovely shots and seems purpose built for dawn/dusk shots.

I'm failing to see how a FF body and a kit zoom/fast prime could be an alternative to very expensive 4:1 equivalent Macro lens or vice versa.

Sure, they might cost the same but use case couldn't be more different.
Well, for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with need, not in the slightest, it's just about having a bit of fun with different formats. Pretty cheap fun really in the grand scheme of things. I was just sniffing around for an older DSLR & fast 50, the S5 popped up at a ridiculous price, I bit. All there is to it.
